Please Note: This tutorial can slightly vary, depending upon your version and configuration of Mac OS.
Setting up a Dial up connection for Mac OS
Click on file, application and open the application window
Double click on Internet Connect
A new window will appear called Internal Modem.
Please check the configuration box shows your appropriate modem and the show modem status in menu bar is ticked.
Check that the show modem status in menu bar is ticked
Click Edit
A new window will appear called Network
In the Location window it doesn't matter too much where you are we left it blank but if you want to put New Zealand you may.
In the show box if it does not show your modem click the drop down box and select it so that it does.
Setting up TCP/IP
Click the configure drop down box and select using PPP
In the IP address box (under DNS Servers) type 202.27.215.1
Nothing needs to be entered in Search Domains
Setting up PPP
In the Service Provider window type Kiwilink
In the Account Name type your Kiwilink username
In the Password box type your password
Please note: that the username and password must be exactly the same as on your subscription form, it is case sensitive (no capitals).
In the Telephone Number box if you are in Auckland type 086740000
In the Telephone Number box if you are not in Auckland type 09 9200220
Please note: That you don't need to use the alternate number.
Tick the save password box as this will save you from having to type in your password each time.
Setting up PPP Options
Click on the button PPP Options
A new window will open and will have session options and advanced options
Setting up the Session options
Connect automatically when needed should be un ticked
Prompt every 30 minutes to maintain connection un ticked
Disconnect if Idle for 10 minutes ticked
Disconnect when user logs out ticked
Redial if busy redial 1 times wait 5 seconds before redialling ticked
Setting up the Advanced options
Terminal Script is None
Send PPP echo packets ticked
Use TCP Header compression un ticked
Connect using a terminal window (command line) un ticked
Use verbose logging unticked.
Click Ok
Setting up the Proxy Tab
FTP Proxy should be left blank
Tick Use passive FTP Mode (PASV)
Web Proxy (HTTP) in the box type cache.kiwilink.co.nz Port 3128
Leave all the rest blank and click on the Modem tab
Setting up the Modem Tab
Please ensure you have the correct modem in the modem box
Enable error correction and compression in modem should be ticked
Wait for dial tone before dialing ticked
Dialing tone Sound On
Connection: Notify me of incoming calls while connected to the internet un ticked
Country setting: New Zealand
Show modem status in menu bar should be ticked.
Then close the window.
Setting your Homepage
If you have just setup your Email click the Web tab in Internet Properties.
If you have not click on the Apple button on the top left corner of your
screen and scroll down to system preferences. Click on the internet icon
and then the web tab and in the homepage box type: Http://www.kiwilink.co.nz
