Kiwilink VoIP Conference Calling

You have your own personal conference (Group chat) service! This is great for ad-hoc conferences as you don’t need to do anything to set them up in advance.

By default, all customers have one automatically. Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Anyone can simply dial 028 8990123 (+64 28 8990123 from overseas)

Step 2: Enter your Kiwilink phone number you wish to use for conferencing– this is also the number other callers will need to enter to join the conference.

Step 3: After the system prompts you for your name to announce to other attendees, you’re in! It’s as simple as that.

If you would like more security to prevent anyone else from logging in, then you can set up a guest access pin code or a supervisor pin code from the http://voip.Kiwilink.com.au web site. You can access your conference room from your Kiwilink phone by dialling either the conference number as per above or *42. If you enter your own conference room from your Kiwilink number you will automatically have supervisor access rights and will not need to enter a Pin code.

By default, the whole conference is recorded to an MP3 file which is emailed to you at the end of the conference. Recordings are around 7MB per hour. You can then forward on this email to others within the conference if you wish to retain a record of what was discussed. You can even upload your own Music on Hold conference music on the Kiwilink VoIP control panel which is played when user’s are waiting for attendees to arrive.

External parties will either pay a NZ mobile call rate, or the call will count towards their minute bundle if calling in from a mobile phone. It is free for all Kiwilink customers calling from their Kiwilink phone line. There is an option to access the conference for free from a standard telephone by using the remote dial tone feature of Kiwilink.

Once in the conference, there is a wide range of control features that even the most expensive conference services often lack. These are:

Press ‘*’ to access the conference Menu and then press:

1 - Mute/Unmute self
2 - Lock/Unlock room to block new entrants (Supervisors only)
3 - Eject last user who entered conference (Supervisors only)
4 - Decrease conference volume
6 - Increase conference volume
7 - Decrease Your own volume
9 - Increase Your own volume
8 - Exit menu

The instructions you need to give other participants to join up a conference are:

1. Dial +64 28 890123 (or in NZ 028 890 123) at the advised time
2. When prompted, enter your Kiwilink number (e.g. 028 890001#)
3. If asked, enter the conference pin number (disabled by default)
4. When prompted, state your name.
